We honor music as a vibration that cannot be captured or recorded; it exists in an independent and ephemeral moment reliant upon the environment and the people within it. During our performances we create a group mind shared by both the animate and inanimate objects within an area. We do this through the use of sound, lights, video, movement, and focused intent. The shared experience forms a being unto itself, with its own thought-patterns and ideas. The people who experience this creation often cannot remember or describe it afterward because it takes place in an entirely different dimension. Our instruments and sound devices have been specifically built or modified to work within the field of intent. We have employed various methods: radionic devices, home-cut records with non-linear groove paths, brainwave to video generator feedback, ultrasound frequencies, cybernetic circuit design, hacked/scrambled/circuit-bent consumer grade electronics, and more. Recent live performances employ visual music methods; sounds triggering modulating lights and video feed between us and a multilevel screen, creating a feedback loop obscuring and manipulating our shadows and enhancing movement. All of the audio is sent and mixed in a single output back through a 4-channel tape delay, bounced to two tape machines sharing a single tape in a chain. This creates a ping-pong delay that lets us hear our music only after we have already created it. This has greatly helped us open up to the beyond and removes the personal ego states.
As artists we do not limit our activities to the stage or to a specified time of performance. We believe that each and every moment holds the secret to life, and it is with intention and care that we attend to these moments. We have built our lives accordingly, focusing on creating community and love rather than consuming or thinking about that which we do not wish to happen. Each thought is a manifestation, and it takes vigilance and complete immersion to create the world we want. With this mindset, in 2001 we bought a building in West Baltimore that we have assembled into our living and workspace. It also includes a performance space as well as two free rooms for long-term guests. Our space, called Tarantula Hill, has encouraged others to buy their own buildings in our neighborhood (three at this time) so that we can all work and create together. Living is the true art; the stuff in galleries, on recordings, and on stage is just the byproduct.
